The Coach and Horses, Dersingham: Hotel Transformation

Writer: Hayley RoyHayley Roy

At Harp Design, we love when design journeys begin in unexpected ways. This particular project started at the HRC event in 2024, where we met the owners of The Coach and Horses, Dersingham. They were considering designing their own hotel and asked if we had any advice.

A Podcast That Sparked a Project

Rather than giving a quick answer, I recommended they listen to an episode of The Interior Design Podcast, where I sat down with Erin from Black Dog Design to discuss pub design. It was packed with insights on layout, materials, and creating a space that truly works for both business and guests.

The next day, the owners returned, having listened to the episode, and asked us to design their hotel! We were thrilled—especially as this would be a hospitality project in East Anglia, a region close to our hearts.

Bringing the Vision to Life

Over the coming months, we worked closely with the client, making sure every product was specified within budget and sourced from their preferred suppliers. Our collaborative approach ensured that their vision came to life in the most practical and cost-effective way.

Watching the site evolve from a construction zone to a stunning hotel with a fantastic bar and restaurant was incredibly rewarding. The final result is a space that’s welcoming, stylish, and now attracting visitors from all over the country.

A Huge Thank You!

A massive thank you to the owners of The Coach and Horses, Dersingham, for trusting us with this journey. It’s always amazing to see how a simple conversation can lead to something extraordinary.
