Eat To Live Not To Die: Bringing a Bold Retail Vision to Life

Creating an impactful shop interior on a tight budget takes thoughtful design, practical decisions and a brilliant team. For Eat To Live Not To Die, Harp Design helped turn an architect’s original design into a finished space, reworking and value engineering the proposals to make the vision achievable without compromising on quality.

With its striking black finishes, illuminated branding and warmly lit product displays, the shop shows what can be achieved when creativity and collaboration work together.

Making the design achievable

Our role was to build on the architect’s design, reviewing where the budget would have the greatest impact and how the scheme could be delivered cost effectively. Harp Design was then appointed as Principal Designer and Project Manager.

A strong value engineering approach meant we looked carefully at materials, construction methods and detailing to find practical ways of achieving the intended result. Every decision needed to respect the design while making the available budget work harder.

For this project, the focus was clear: preserve the strong visual identity, maintain quality and create a space that works for the business every day.

Maximum impact through thoughtful detail

The black fluted feature wall creates a dramatic backdrop for the illuminated Eat To Live Not To Die logo. Warm lighting along the product shelving brings depth to the darker palette and puts the products centre stage.

The long counter, organised displays and consistent branding give the interior a cohesive feel, while daylight from the shopfront balances the dark finishes.

Together, these elements create a confident retail space with a memorable first impression.

The team behind the transformation

We worked alongside Carter Newlove, Connell Electrical and McGregor Builders, bringing together the skills and practical expertise needed to make the project a reality.

We could not have asked for a better team. Their commitment, care and willingness to work through the challenges of a tight budget helped us achieve maximum effect while protecting the quality of the finished space.

Projects like this depend on people who understand the vision and pull together to deliver it.

Ready to welcome customers

Seeing Eat To Live Not To Die open its doors is a moment to celebrate. The finished shop brings the brand’s personality into a physical space and demonstrates that a limited budget can still deliver a bold, carefully considered interior.

Congratulations to the Eat To Live Not To Die team, and thank you to everyone who helped bring this project to life.
