Some projects stay with you long after they're completed.
Beyond Escapes Devon is one of those projects.
Back in 2018, Harp Design was appointed to design and deliver the interiors for the first of what was planned to become a portfolio of luxury holiday destinations. The £12 million development introduced a fresh approach to the UK staycation market, combining boutique accommodation, exceptional hospitality and wellness in the heart of the Devon countryside.

Designing an Experience, Not Just a Building
From the very beginning, this wasn't simply about selecting finishes or furniture.
The vision was to create an experience that guests would remember.
Every interior was designed to balance luxury with practicality, creating spaces that felt welcoming, relaxed and connected to the beautiful surrounding landscape. Natural materials, calming colour palettes and carefully considered lighting helped create an environment where guests could truly switch off.
The project included hospitality spaces, guest accommodation, restaurants, leisure facilities and communal areas, all designed to work together as one seamless guest journey.

Commercial Design That Works
Great hospitality design is about far more than aesthetics.
Every decision needed to support the commercial success of the business.
We considered:
Guest flow throughout the resort
Operational efficiency
Durability of finishes
Maintenance requirements
Brand consistency
Return on investment
Creating memorable guest experiences
When commercial interiors are thoughtfully designed, they don't just look beautiful—they help businesses perform better.

A Partnership Built on Trust
One of the things we're most proud of is the relationship that developed throughout the project.
The success of Beyond Escapes led to an ongoing partnership with Ryedale Leisure Holdings, working together on future hospitality developments and helping shape the next generation of leisure destinations.
Long-term relationships like these are something we value enormously. They are built on trust, collaboration and consistently delivering commercially successful design solutions.

Looking Back
When we look back at Beyond Escapes today, we're reminded that good design stands the test of time.
Many of the principles we applied then are still central to how we design today:
Psychology-led interiors
Commercial thinking
Guest-centred experiences
Timeless rather than trend-led design
Sustainable, long-lasting specifications
It's always rewarding to revisit projects that continue to perform years after completion.
Beyond Escapes remains a fantastic example of how thoughtful commercial interior design can elevate both a brand and the customer experience.
