Interface
This floor wasn’t chosen. It was designed.

Designing the foundation of the Hotel Room of the Future
The floor is one of the most hard-working elements in any hotel room. It must feel calm underfoot, withstand constant use, support zoning, and reduce environmental impact — all without compromising on design.
For the Hotel Room of the Future, Interface partnered with Harp Design to demonstrate how flooring can do all of that — beautifully.
Flooring That Shapes Space
Interface is a global leader in modular flooring and resilient surface solutions, known for combining design creativity with performance and sustainability.
For this concept room, three products from Interface’s Level Set collection were specified:
-
Etched & Threaded – bringing softness and a woven, tactile aesthetic that grounds the room in quiet comfort.
-
Connected Ethos – a transition tile enabling seamless zoning, moving between tonal shifts without breaking visual flow.
-
Textured Stones LVT – delivering the architectural character of stone with the durability and ease of maintenance required in hospitality environments.
Rather than using a standard grid layout, Interface collaborated with Harp Design to create a bespoke carpet tile configuration that responds to the room’s curved geometry and circulation paths. This approach enhances spatial flow, supports intuitive wayfinding, and subtly zones the room without visible barriers.
The result is a layered, modern interior that feels intentional from the ground up.
Performance Without Compromise
Hotels operate under pressure. Flooring must withstand heavy footfall, luggage movement, spillages and cleaning regimes — all while maintaining its appearance.
Interface’s modular system offers:
-
Targeted tile replacement instead of full floor removal
-
Reduced maintenance disruption
-
Lower lifecycle cost compared to broadloom carpet
-
Flexible reconfiguration as layouts evolve
This modular approach aligns with best practice in high-traffic commercial interiors, where adaptability and longevity are critical to operational success.

Designed for Climate Progress
Interface has been a pioneer in sustainable flooring for decades. Today, the company focuses on measurable carbon reductions — not offsets — as it works toward its verified science-based targets by 2030 and its ambition to become a carbon negative enterprise by 2040.
Key sustainability attributes include:
-
High recycled content
-
Low VOC emissions
-
Transparent environmental data
-
Reduced embodied carbon across product ranges
For hotel owners and operators, this means flooring solutions that support ESG goals while maintaining premium design standards.
Beautiful spaces should not cost the earth.
Why This Matters to Hotel Owners
-
Designed for longevity – Modular tiles reduce replacement costs and downtime
-
Improved maintenance – Replace sections, not entire floors
-
Enhanced guest experience – Flooring that supports spatial flow and comfort
-
Sustainable by design – Recycled content and low emissions
-
Better indoor environment – Supporting air quality and wellbeing
The floor becomes more than a surface — it becomes part of the strategy.

Part of the Hotel Room of the Future
Interface is a sponsor and partner of the Hotel Room of the Future, selected for its ability to integrate design intelligence, operational performance, and environmental responsibility into one of the most fundamental elements of interior architecture.
This collaboration demonstrates how flooring can shape space, improve longevity, and contribute meaningfully to a more restorative approach to hospitality design.
